Defensive Errors Prove Costly as Senior Girls Wolves Narrowly Lose to 107

Senior Girls narrowly lost to 107 with the score of 1-3 during a heating match at the Wolves Den on Monday afternoon.

Early in the first half both sides were neck-and-neck together, as they struggled to find chances to take proper shots. The deadlock was broken 7 minutes when 107 seized the chance after a sloppy clearance from Wolves’ defense resulted into a goal. The Wolves’ however responded back straight away after Kerry managed to blast the ball from a close range after a goal-mouth scramble from a corner.

Kerrific: Kerry’s (G12) equalizer brought Wolves back into the game

The Wolves’ seemed to be controlling the game later on but a poor clearance let them down again as the attempted clearance went straight to one of the 107 players to volley it straight into the bottom corner. Determined to find another equalizer, the ladies pushed more people forward which proved costly they conceded another goal from a counter-attack after an insane face-save from 107’s keeper.

The ladies looked even more aggressive in the second-half as they searched for more goals. Emily and Petra had most of the shots, but somehow the ball either goes slightly wide or aimed straight at the keeper. Despite of the numerous efforts, better defensive organization, and some stunning saves from Ruby near the end, the Senior Girls finished the game with a 1-3 loss as they couldn’t find a way to break through the heart of 107’s defense.
