Today I interviewed the magnificent Ms. Magda! I know that the other post said I’d interview Ms. Gaby, but there was a small intervention, so please bear with us. She really wants to get to know you guys, so you can stop by her office anytime – the door is always open. Anyway, here’s the interview:
1. Where are you from?
I’m from Krakow, a city in Poland.
2. What did you do before becoming a teacher here at KIS?
I’ve done various workshops, taught psychology in Poland and worked for 5 years in Dubai teaching DP psychology and theory of knowledge.
3. What are your hobbies/what do you like to do for fun?
I love scuba diving, exercising, running, yoga, and boot camps. When I lived in Poland I went snowboarding a lot. I also like going to the cinema and travelling. I’ve been to basically every continent except for Antartica, and the next place I’d like to visit is Japan because I haven’t been there yet.
4. Why did you come/choose KIS?
I’ve always wanted to live in Southeast Asia and I wanted to work in a small school as a counsellor. I also heard KIS was a good school, and what was very appealing to me was that I’d get to teach PSHE. I think it’s cool to have an opportunity to teach skills, because I do yoga, meditate and other stuff like that.
5. What have you enjoyed most about working here?
Everyone is nice, and that includes the: students, parents and staff. Also, the noodle soup here is really good.
6. What was/were your first impression(s)?
I was very impressed with the campus, and the fact that there were turtles. This school is also bigger than I thought it would be.
7. What do you most look forward to?
I’d like getting to know the students personally, as I’m the guidance counsellor and I only get to be with each class for 50 minutes once or twice a week. I also look forward to getting to know my way around the city as well as the school.
