On December 8th, 2016, the secondary school community of KIS gathered for a special assembly in memory of the late King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In progress ever since October, this assembly had been given the time needed for the KIS community to prepare the best memorial assembly we could.
Hosted by the Ken (G12) and Emily Br. (G11), the student council president and vice president, the assembly followed a timeline chronicling His Majesty’s life, exploring the experiences and achievements of King Bhumibol. From the early days to the final farewell, the assembly captures some of the greatest moments of His Majesty.
The assembly saw our own staging of the royal anthem, performances of songs dedicated to His Majesty by groups covering various grades, a traditional Thai dance, and heartfelt speeches given by students from all grades as well as our school director, Khun Kumaree.
With this grand assembly, KIS bid farewell to a beloved father figure and revered king.
