Did you know that more than 100,000 turtles and other marine animals, such as dolphins, whales and seals, are killed by plastic every year around the world? Plastic is considered to be one of the most common man-made objects found in the ocean with more than 18,000 pieces of plastic found in every square kilometre of the ocean.
This video is a part of our Design class project to help raise awareness about marine life and how WE as humans, are affecting it. I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard about these issues way too many times yet the problem is still there. Although it does not personally affect our daily lives, it is still happening and we must do something in order to resolve it. Raising awareness and knowing about this issue is the first step, next is to take action!
Also, don’t forget to check out our interactive turtle that’s placed in the Mezzanine in front of the Library.
Thank you so much for this article – I feel we need so much more awareness on this isuue!
