Thailand, a small country spotted in Southeast Asia and its capital city Bangkok, are now for the third year in a row, the top most visited destinations in the world! Honestly, I didn’t believe that my small country could become this, but have you ever wondered why? According to an article on Forbes, Paris had 17.44 million international visitors in 2017 and yet, Bangkok still ranked first with 20.05 million international visitors within the year 2017 and was predicted to increase by 9.06% more by the end of last year!

Let’s start with lifestyles as it is one of the most important qualities of Thailand. The culture in Thailand is composed of its people and its attractions. For example, Bangkok is a city filled with modern and traditional forms meaning that most people are influenced by religion (Buddhism). This is why there are temples everywhere for Buddhists to pay respect, and for tourists to explore and experience the culture of Thais. A good representation of modern architecture is the Mahanakhon Skywalk with 78 floors and a large transparent glass surface for tourists to observe the beautiful sights of the city.

Moreover, the extraordinary Thai cuisine has also satisfied most tourists because of its exquisite flavors. Thai food is a balance of flavors. Specifically, Som Tum (Papaya Salad) that has a mix of spicy, sour, sweet and saltiness, the most famous Thai dish, Pad Thai (Stir-fried rice noodle dish) with the combinations of sweet and sour flavors. Nevertheless, the very attractive nightlife and compelling street food, such as in Soi Sukhumvit 38 (known for amazing street food), Thonglor, Ekamai and Asiatique, as there are bright glowing lights at night, and different sorts of restaurants all around to choose from.

Thailand is also known as a shopping paradise. There are a lot of night markets everywhere in town as well as high-end shopping malls, i.e. Icon Siam, Emporium, Emquartier. Some famous night markets include Jatujak Market, Artbox Thailand, and Siam Square. Most shopping areas in Thailand are brimmed with interesting products, ranging from the different values of products to the most high-end expensive ones. Not only is there a variety to purchase from, but also products that are fashionable and unique, representing different cultures and styles. To illustrate, most Thai people like to shop in markets as it is convenient and has reasonable pricing for the products.

Another amazing characteristic of Thailand is nature. Most tourists visit Thailand because of its warm climates every season, and of course, the beaches and islands. For instance, Phi Phi Island, located in Phuket, attracts many visitors because of the clear sea water as well as the activities like kayaking, snorkeling and even just lying down, embracing the breathtaking scenery of the beaches and the balmy atmosphere.
