KIS REVIEWS: The Kissing Booth

One of Netflix’s newer releases The Kissing Booth is based on a book (that I have not read and did not know existed) and was an extremely popular rom-com sometime last year.

Just like the trailer shows the plot is pretty simple and the movie definitely has that light-hearted, silly vibe many Netflix rom-coms have.

Good things about the movie:

  • Very cute friendship between main character Elle and her best friend Lee. (Also shows guys and girls can be just friends, which isn’t seen in a lot of rom-coms).
  • Elle, as a character, is very strong willed and pretty funny.
  • Some cute friendship/romance montages are involved (and who isn’t up for a good montage every once and a while?)
  • Some of the scenes were so dramatic, like unreasonably so, that it became funny? At least for me anyway.

It has similar vibes to a lot of other movies in it’s genre like Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List so if you’re into those you might want to give this one a whirl.

Although not the most life changing or influential movies of all time if you have Netflix, invite a few friends over, make some popcorn and have a good laugh. (Or watch it at 3am by yourself on a Thursday, I’m not stopping you).
