“BEIJING (AP) — China’s top disease control official, in a rare acknowledgement, said current vaccines offer low protection against the coronavirus and mixing them is among strategies being considered to boost their effectiveness.”
Gao Fu, who is the head of the Chinese CDC stated that the “it is now under consideration whether we should use different vaccines from different technical lines for the immunisation process”, due to “current vaccines [not possessing] very high protection rates’ in a recent conference in Chengdu, China.
He later refuted this report, stating that he spoke on the “vaccines in the world, not particularly for China”.
Some media agencies, like the Chinese state-owned Global Times, have reported doubts about the effectiveness and safety of the mRNA vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech.
The Sinovac on the other hand, which is available here in Thailand, showed mixed results around the globe, with varying effectiveness of 50~80%.
