After all of the movies finished, J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, revealed many important and astonishing details about the series. Even some of the most dedicated and hardcore fans were shocked at these trivia below.

1. More Wizarding Schools

As we know from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, there are multiple wizarding schools, other than Hogwarts. J.K. Rowling introduced us to all existing schools in her universe; Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Scotland), Beauxbatons Academy of Magic (France), Durmstrang Institute (Scandinavia), Koldovstoretz (Russia), Mahoutokoro (Japan), Uagadou School of Magic (Africa), an unknown one in Brazil, and a last one in the United States of America.

2. Patronus Privation

After the Battle of Hogwarts, J.K. Rowling mentioned that George Weasley couldn’t ever produce another Patronus charm, since he didn’t have any happy memories that didn’t include his late twin brother, Fred. Yeah, I know. Depressing.

3. Grumpy Death Eaters

J.K. Rowling also stated that apart from Severus Snape, no other death eater has ever produced a Patronus charm, or ever tried, because they never had any happy memories.

4. Sirius Black is Hardcore

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Sirius Black is shown to have several tattoos on his chest and arms. These tattoos came from the Russian prison mobs. Whomever bares them should be feared and respected.

5. Once a Genius, Always a Genius

The reason J.K. Rowling chose such a unique name for Hermione’s character, is because not many girls have that name. She thought that those who did would get bullied or teased for sharing a name with a smart and bossy person.

6. The Only Girl

Ginny Weasley is said to be the only female born into the Weasley family for multiple generations.

7. The Changing of Dudley Dursley

Many hardcore Harry Potter fans saw the deleted scene from the ending of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I. If you haven’t, why? Anyway, it shows the Dursley family leaving and then Dudley coming up to Harry and asking why he wasn’t coming with them. Harry replied with “’They think I’m a waste of space, actually.”. What happened next, surprised fans around the world. Dudley hugged Harry and said he didn’t think Harry was a waste of space. However, many fans don’t know why the sudden change of heart. That’s because when the dementors in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix targeted Harry and Dudley’s souls, Dudley saw how mean he was to Harry and wanted to change after that.

8. Depressed Malfoy

Another change of heart that occurred in the Harry Potter franchise was that of Draco Malfoy.

When Fred Weasley died, Draco felt sad that he was the reason. He actually found the Weasley twins quite amusing and enjoyed listening to their jokes. At Fred’s funeral, which Draco attended, he stood at the back, careful not to be seen. After everybody left, he went to the tombstone and started sobbing and set down some flowers. He apologized about being the reason that he died. However, he didn’t know that George was watching him, behind a pillar.

Makes you think about Malfoy from a whole different angle.

9. Professor Potter

Every fan knows that after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry became an Auror. Although, some people don’t know that Harry occasionally visited his old school and gave lessons on the Defense Against the Dark Arts.

10. The Truth about Dean’s Dad

Earlier on in the story, Dean mentions that his father was a muggle and he abandoned him and his mother when he learned the truth about magic. In fact, Dean’s dad actually was a wizard and he died in the hands of Death Eaters when he declined the offer of joining the Dark Army. What’s more surprising is that Dean and his mother never even knew that his dad was a wizard!
